Generating Policies

PolicifyAI generates legally-sound policies in under 60 seconds. Enter your business details, select a jurisdiction and language, and our AI — guided by jurisdiction-specific legal templates — produces a complete, editable document.

Step-by-step

Go to Dashboard → Generate or click + Generate in the left sidebar.

1

Choose a policy type

Select from 120+ types. Browse categories or search — try typing "data protection", "employee", or "refund" to find what you need quickly. See the full list in Policy types.

2

Enter your business details

Fill in your brand name, website URL, and industry. These appear throughout the generated document wherever the policy refers to "the company" or "we". Be accurate — the output is only as specific as the input.

3

Select jurisdiction

Choose the country or legal region your policy must comply with. 180+ jurisdictions supported — EU/EEA (all 27 member states), UK, US (all 50 states including California CCPA), Canada, Australia, Brazil (LGPD), China (PIPL), and more. For most businesses: pick where you are legally registered, or where your users are.

4

Select language

Policies can be generated in 120+ languages. Type a language name or ISO code — de, fr, es, pt, ja, etc.

5

Add extra context (strongly recommended)

The Additional context field is where you get specificity. Examples of useful context: “We use Stripe for payments, Google Analytics, and Facebook Pixel.” / “We sell only to businesses (B2B), not consumers.” / “We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.” The more relevant detail you add, the more tailored the output.

6

Generate and review

Click Generate policy. Generation takes 20–90 seconds. The result opens in the rich text editor where every section is editable and auto-saved.

💡 On Agency plans, generate from a client record to automatically associate the policy with that client — it will appear in the client's policy list, not just your general workspace.

Generation limits

Each plan includes a different quota. Exceeding your limit requires an upgrade — check pricing for current plan options.

Editing after generation

Every policy is fully editable in the built-in rich text editor. Click any paragraph to edit in-place. Changes auto-save immediately — no save button needed. The editor supports bold/italic, headings, bullet lists, numbered lists, and hyperlinks.

💡 Editing does not count against your generation quota. Only clicking Generate or Regenerate consumes a credit.

Regenerating a policy

Open any policy and click Regenerate to produce a fresh version — useful when your business details change, you want a different jurisdiction, or legal requirements in your region have been updated.

⚠️ Regeneration replaces the full policy text. Any manual edits will be overwritten. The policy ID and URL stay the same, so all embeds automatically display the new content.

Tips for best results

Name every third-party service you use

List every analytics, payment, marketing, or tracking tool in the Additional context field. The policy will include appropriate disclosures for each service: Google Analytics, Stripe, Mailchimp, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Intercom, HubSpot, etc.

Be specific about what data you collect

Say exactly what personal data you handle: “We collect name, email, postal address, IP address, and payment card data (tokenised via Stripe).” Vague inputs produce generic outputs.

State your business model

B2B vs B2C, age of users, subscription vs one-time purchase — these all affect which legal obligations apply. Mention them explicitly.

Pick the most specific jurisdiction

If your business is registered in Germany, pick Germany — not “European Union”. The output will reference the German data protection authority (BfDI) and any German-specific requirements.

Troubleshooting

Generation fails or times out

Refresh the page and try again. If it fails repeatedly, the AI service may be experiencing high load — try again in a few minutes. Persistent failures: [email protected].

Output seems too generic

Go back to the generation form (click Regenerate) and add detailed information to the Additional context field. The more context, the more specific the output.
